Get Out and Explore Charlotte!

Welcome to the Queen City — grab your walking shoes (and maybe a designated driver) because there's a lot to love here.

Start Uptown, the heart of it all. Soak up some culture at the galleries and museums — the Harvey B. Gantt Center and the Mint Museum are local gems — then stretch out in the greenery at Romare Bearden Park. Sports fan? You've hit the jackpot: catch the Panthers at Bank of America Stadium, the Knights at Truist Field, or the Hornets at the Spectrum Center, all within walking distance. When it's time to eat, go fancy with upscale French at Coquette, or keep it casual at Valhalla Pub & Eatery, where the food is great and the TVs are always tuned to the game — and that's just scratching the surface.

Ready to roam? Hop on the streetcar right nearby and connect to the light rail to pop down to South End — think buzzing bars, standout restaurants, and shopping galore. There's always something happening, so check the South End events calendar before you go.

That same streetcar will carry you almost all the way to Plaza Midwood (the last stretch is a nice little walk). It's a foodie paradise: sushi at Uchibon, Latin flavors at Calle Sol, and a cute glass of bubbly at Bev Proseccheria. Supperland is a local favorite — and if you can't snag a reservation, sneak into their fun little bar right next door.

Craving more? NoDa has a great walkable strip with spots like Goodyear House and the charming Bar A Vin for a perfect glass of wine. For a retail fix, head to SouthPark Mall, surrounded by top-notch restaurants like Steak 48 and BrickTops. And if the outdoors is calling, the U.S. National Whitewater Center delivers adventure for days — plus an off-leash dog park for your four-legged travel buddy.

Last but not least: Charlotte runs on craft beer. A couple of favorites — Birdsong Brewing in NoDa and Burial Beer in Plaza Midwood. Consider this just the beginning — there's a whole city out there waiting for you!
